§ 8-1. Legislative findings.

  • (a)

    The town finds that there exist in the town certain dwellings which are unfit for human habitation due to:

    (1)

    Dilapidation;

    (2)

    Defects increasing the hazards of fire, accident, or other calamities;

    (3)

    Lack of ventilation, light, or sanitary facilities; or

    (4)

    Other conditions rendering the dwellings unsafe or unsanitary, dangerous or detrimental to the health, safety, or morals or otherwise adverse to the welfare of the residents of the town.

    (b)

    The town deems it necessary to exercise its police powers to repair, close, or demolish any dwelling in the manner herein provided, pursuant to the provisions of S.C. Code § 31-15-10 et seq., as the same may be from time to time amended.
